The topic of obsessive-compulsive disorder is very multifaceted and interesting. I have been helping clients with OCD for 13 years. Obsessive-compulsive disorder is very diverse in its manifestations. I bring to your attention an introduction to the different types of this disorder. Today I’ll talk about aggressive OCD. It belongs to the typology of bad obsessive thoughts. What is aggressive obsessive-compulsive disorder? In this case, we are talking about causing harm to oneself or others as a result of direct or indirect actions. Aggressive obsessions may include fear of self-harm or harm to others. For example, stabbing, strangulation, poisoning, etc. People with these kinds of obsessions usually cling to the thoughts: “If I think this way, that makes me this way.” It seems that these images or thoughts of violence make them an aggressive person or reveal their true aggressive personality. Avoidance behavior may include avoiding people who could be harmed, tools that could be used to cause harm, and news, books, movies, or any other material associated with causing harm. Attempts to solve the problem include checking in with whom everything's fine. Seeking reassurance from other people about whether I've done something terrible. Checking your own intentions: “Did I really want to harm my child?” Anticipating future scenarios in the event of potential harm to myself or others Reviewing past scenarios to ensure that nothing happened and therefore I am not to blame. Example of aggressive obsessive compulsive disorder Let's look at S's experience with this form of obsession. S, a university student, went to visit his parents for the summer. He vacationed with others: went hiking, cooked together, ran with his brothers, watched movies and teased him every now and then. sister. S. was very close to his family and always looked forward to spending time with them after his busy studies. After watching a horror movie in his sleep, he had a nightmare about “cutting his parents.” The whole next day he thought about it. S. was shocked because deep down he loved his parents and would never do anything to harm them or his brothers and sisters. S. didn't know what to do about it, but he kept thinking about it, really. whether he wants to harm his parents. He checked his feelings towards his parents and started writing down the good times he had with them to prove to himself that he didn't mean to hurt them. He began to avoid being in the kitchen with his parents because he was afraid of the knives that were there near him. Also, for safety, he preferred to be with both parents rather than just one of them, in case he ended up attacking one of them.
