What is the use of the fear of death? At first glance it seems - none. Expected reactions: a feeling of weakness, insignificance, fear, pain. However, with a successful combination of thoughts, you can extract something useful and fill your life with new meanings. How? First, let’s determine that it is possible to face death: ▪️Directly: - you almost got into an accident - you are waiting for HIV tests, oncology - they announced mobilization - you got into an accident - you got HIV - you are going to the front ▪️Indirectly: - a loved one/acquaintance/dog died - a loved one fell ill / - waiting for tests on a loved one / - earthquake and tsunami in Indonesia, September 11, February 24, Beslan - read “Mumu” or watched the news about a maniac. What is happening: ▪️A person realizes that people are mortal, that his grandmother is mortal, and that he is ALSO (!) mortal▪️Next, a person has options: ☝️Avoid the fear of death: - drive away these nasty thoughts, be distracted by work, children, alcohol; - suppress these thoughts with various activities: as if demonstrating to Death your fearlessness, strength, disobedience; ✌️Notice these thoughts, suffer and accept the fact of your own mortality with one important component of usefulness - draw the necessary conclusion. What thoughts can lead to the right conclusion: ▪️ WHAT I want important people to remember about me (important, that is, loved ones - not necessarily relatives and family members): - that I worked a lot (or that I drank a lot, was angry, greedy, cowardly , was the boss, everyone respected and feared him) or - that I became a pottery master, loved children, went to the mountains, was so brave that I got married/divorced/gave birth/opened a kfs/wrote a book about a young wizard/moved to St. Petersburg, America or Mongolia?▪️Or maybe no one will think about me, so don’t give a shit about their opinion, no one will thank me later, so shouldn’t I start living to satisfy MY DESIRE? It’s just like in the movie “Until I played in the box” - having realized death, people begin to live their (sometimes) meaningless lives - (often) filled with other people’s desires and rules - differently, more meaningfully, more fully. Meeting the fear of death - directly or indirectly - for many becomes a powerful impetus for development, if this fear is met as it should be.
