Inside a person is extremely complex. There are many theories about how the human world is organized. Today I would like to talk about the theory of Eric Berne. Eric Berne talks about the social plane in the process of communication, about the internal ego state, which he calls Parent, Adult and Child. The internal state of a person in the process of communication is manifested in external communication by turning any of these states of one person to another and receiving a response. The three ego states identified by Berne can be briefly characterized as follows: Child - behavior is dominated by impulses and desires, actions are similar to those carried out in childhood, the result is expected momentarily, is based to a small extent on facts, immediate and sincere. There are different types of manifestations: natural, adapted (educated, lives according to the rules of a “good” boy, “good” girl), rebellious (protesting against the rules). They also distinguish between: sincere and manipulative appearance, satisfied and dissatisfied. Parent - behavior is dictated by rules and norms that were learned once, these rules do not change, they are perceived as dogma. The parent manifests itself as caring (advice, guardianship, instructions) and as controlling (monitors compliance with guidelines, rules). Parenthood is the most conservative and permanent state of the individual. Emotional, directive. An adult is independent, actions are based on facts, logic, experience, adapts well, is ready for self-development, a state of being in the present (regardless of the past and future), less emotional than the manifestations of a parent and child, reasonable. So, with which part of our personality we turn to other people, this is how relationships will develop. At a certain moment, one of these ego parts of us takes a leading position, and our life is built from this state. For example, like in this picture. From left to right, the figure has heads representing child, parent, adult. On the one hand, the positions are equal, but still the central part is occupied by the Parent. A person's life is built from this position. The client has a very conflictual relationship with his mother. And in general, it is not surprising that when a “parent” tries to teach a “parent”, but the views do not coincide, then, of course, a conflict is formed. It is interesting to find out in the process of work how it happens that relationships develop in exactly this way, what mechanisms inside “trigger” exactly such processes. This can only be understood by studying your inner world. Other articles on the topic: - Adult, parent, child - Facets of my “I” - The road of life.
