Before performing written exercises, it would be good to know the safety rules. It may seem that such practices are definitely good and you cannot “hurt yourself” by moving a pen over a sheet of paper. This is not entirely true. Written practices are a way of self-knowledge and self-support. And like any tool of self-exploration, it can touch the strings of the soul that have not been heard for a long time. Or like if you imagine that you went to the attic to get the right thing, and something that should not have fallen suddenly fell on top of you. But it happens, when we start to “declutter” and start putting things in order, we find “surprises” and skeletons in the closet. Therefore, please take care of yourself, be careful when doing exercises and keeping a diary. Storage. If you want to practice " worked,” it’s important to be honest with yourself. That is, know that no one will read your entries. Discuss with your loved ones that you have a right to privacy. If it is not possible to reach an agreement, then hide your notebooks or write in notes on your phone. The “Stop” rule. If it gets worse in the process, then finish writing (there is no goal of reaching the end at any cost). Alternatively, go to the “light side”. For example, you might ask yourself one of the questions: What can I do in this situation? How can I take care of myself right now? Who can I turn to for support? and others. Condition assessment. Before exercise, assess your stress level. To do this, imagine or draw a scale from 1 to 10 (where 1 is calm, poise; 10 is extreme anxiety, horror). If it is more than 7, then you should not write alone. Support. Think, if something goes wrong, worries will arise, who can you turn to for support. For example, talk in person or on the phone with your husband/wife, boyfriend/girlfriend, with a specialist (psychologist), call the helpline. Space and time Organize a place for yourself where no one will disturb you. Set aside a certain time for practice (for example, 15-30 minutes).
