Anxious thoughts, like evil animals, enter our minds, turning us into prisoners of our fear. They stagnate in our minds, filling it with negativity and scary scenarios. And how do we deal with them? We often fall into the trap of eating our anxiety. As if chocolate or cookies can dispel all doubts and fears, we happily eat our emotions. This attempt to gain comfort may seem logical: we have a problem, we solve it by getting at least some pleasure from food. But in fact, this leads us to danger. Eating anxiety is just an attempt to run away from the problem, instead of solving it. We imagine that after we “eat” our anxiety, it will disappear, but in reality this only masks our fear and postpones solving the problem until later. In addition, eating anxiety becomes a habit that only increases our fear and anxiety. We create associations between anxiety and food, so every time we feel anxious, we want to eat something to calm ourselves down. This arises as a conditioned reflex - as soon as anxious thoughts appear, we go to the refrigerator. The real danger lies not only in gaining extra pounds or developing pathological habits. Eating anxiety can affect our mental health. We will not learn to cope with anxiety, but will only drown in a sea of food and disappointments. So, how can we get rid of the danger of eating anxiety? First, you need to learn to recognize and be aware of anxiety-producing thoughts. Recognizing their existence is the first step to overcoming them. Alternative strategies for coping with anxiety must then be developed. For example, exercise, do breathing exercises, seek help from a specialist, or use psychotherapy methods. Also, do not forget about the importance of self-care. Find other ways to take care of yourself besides food - massage, aromatherapy, reading books, walking outdoors. Ultimately, the key is to realize that eating your anxiety only makes the problem worse. Therefore, don't let your anxiety control you. Instead of getting sucked into the dangerous web of eating, confront the anxiety-producing situations directly and find other ways to cope with them..
