The 37th film festival is currently taking place in Moscow. On Sunday I was able to watch a film by a Japanese female film director with the mysterious title "An". This strange short word means a specially prepared sweet filling for doryaki pancakes made from beans. The action takes place around a small bakery, where a middle-aged man bakes pancakes with sweet filling. Life is difficult for him, serious trials remain behind him, and almost nothing gives him pleasure. Suddenly, an elderly woman, 76 years old, appears and asks to take her to work and says that all her life she has dreamed of working in such a place. To prove that she can cook well, the woman, whose name is Tokuyo, brings her own pancake filling. The filling turns out to be unusually tasty, and the man takes it to his bakery. The film is about loneliness, about the meeting of people who belong to different generations, about the “taste for life” in the literal and figurative sense of the word. The film seemed unusually subtle and beautiful to me. It makes you “slow down” and think again about how you can enjoy life, no matter what, and find pleasure in the simplest things. I recommend watching it to everyone who is interested in films that are “not for everyone” and that have an unusual “exotic taste.” PSThe film received an award at the Cannes Film Festival :))
