Ask why? Self-confidence depends on our assessment of our success (attractiveness to other people) in one or another area of life. In one area we value ourselves highly and therefore are confident in ourselves, in another we feel incompetent. It is impossible to be equally successful in all areas of life. We are all human, we are all imperfect in some way. What really matters is how we perceive ourselves as a whole, our self-image, whether positive or not. As I wrote earlier, a lot in our lives depends on the image of the Self. And, naturally, the duration and success of the work to gain self-confidence depends on this. Let's try to figure it out. Let me give you a couple of examples. Let's start with a simple case. A young girl comes and sadly tells how she is offended by the sarcastic remarks of the young people with whom she studies. “They pushed her so hard that she wants to quit school, feels insecure, worthless, ugly, and constantly has her eyes wet.” Let's find out further. Everything is fine with studies, no problems. Everything is fine at home. There are no particular difficulties in relationships with other people. We conclude: there is confidence in studies, and in relationships with adults and younger people too. The area of uncertainty is relationships with young people, which is natural for a young age. And most importantly, the overall image of “I” is positive. Appearance: in front of me is a large, curvy girl, somewhat unkempt, with thin long hair that unsuccessfully accentuates the imperfect shape of her face, standardly dressed. Can you guess what our work was focused on? Yes, we were building a new attractive image, working on our appearance and how we could confidently respond to barbs. Needless to say, the malicious remarks of the boys ended along with the girl’s previous appearance and a completely different stage in the relationship began))) Depending on the depth of the problem, the work will vary in duration and methods used. Sometimes (with a positive self-image) a simple hike is enough for girls to beauty specialists to increase self-confidence Another very short example. Uncertainty in communicating with clients and customers. The desire to always be an “excellent student” in everything often plays a cruel joke, giving rise to fear of incompetence. What are we doing? We look for the cause of the fear of incompetence and work with it. Sometimes it is enough to remove the emotional reaction, allowing yourself the right to make mistakes, then rethink the scope of your functional responsibilities, and practice confident phrases in response to customer requests. But all this, I emphasize once again, is subject to a general positive image of the Self. If the image of the Self is negative, then deep work cannot be done without.
