What’s good about cognitive psychology is its structure. Well, actually, it cannot be different, it is cognitive. This is her strong point. Therefore, along with cognitive psychology, I like to use emotionally rich techniques - trances, holotropic breathing... But today - about our beliefs. You and I live in a time when cognitive distortions reign. Essentially, we need to accept the fact that almost everything we think is tinged with some kind of cognitive distortion. There are a huge number of them. The slide shows an incomplete list. But sometimes these cognitive distortions become so obvious that it is impossible not to pay attention to them. Why do we distort reality in the first place? The fact is that our psyche has a certain structure. In the section of our beliefs there are several basic ones, absorbed by us in deep childhood. They are then layered with everything we learn throughout life. And we integrate every new fact into our system of thoughts and beliefs. If a fact “doesn’t fit” in the right place, we “shove” it there, and to do this it needs to be distorted (cut, compressed, crushed). If a fact is not integrated into our system at all, then it is discarded as unnecessary. There is an interesting section of cognitive distortions, when a person strives to confirm his beliefs in every possible way. I think everyone in their life can find cases when any information that contradicts your point of view was discarded, distorted, criticized, forgotten, ignored... And that which confirmed your point of view was highlighted, reread, broadcast to others... For example, 15 years ago we could not imagine that we could not go to the office, but work remotely. And even a month ago this would not have occurred to me. But now, when the so-called “self-isolation regime” has been declared, after a week-long shock, our psyche has adapted, and many have begun to feel quite normal at home. And there is even evidence that remote work is no less effective than face-to-face work. Maybe. This is the second time my colleague and I have held a group remotely. But... you know, for some reason you already want personal contact. And you miss live communication?
