“Where the whole feels bad, a part of it cannot be healthy” (Plato). Friends, let's continue our conversation about fear. Let me remind you that healthy fear helps a person survive, preserves life and health. This fear is worthy of respect))) But there is another fear that seems invincible, terrible and from which the whole body seems to go crazy. Meet irrational fear. Irrational fear is not born immediately, not yesterday, not today. It was once hidden and firmly rooted in the recesses of your consciousness, thanks to *unresolved internal/external conflicts, *constant but muted fear experienced once, etc. Irrational fear begins an undeclared war: it always attacks and attacks unexpectedly, scary and painful, affecting and manifesting itself on the mental, physical and behavioral levels. You suddenly woke up at night, or you saw a spider, or you are entering an elevator... Suddenly, unexpectedly, out of nowhere, from the ringing emptiness, a strange feeling of incomprehensible anxiety, threat and oppressive anxiety arises, paralyzing the will. This is how irrational fear manifests itself on a mental level. Your body begins to “go crazy”: your heart begins to beat like crazy, your blood pressure instantly jumps and dizziness appears, your chest begins to feel pressure/ache and a burning sensation and nausea appear in your stomach, sweating increases, etc. . This is how irrational fear manifests itself on the physical level. You are scared, you begin to panic: suddenly you will faint, or, even worse, die, or you will suffocate and there will be no one nearby who can save you. You begin to feel powerless from lack of control over fear. This is how irrational fear again manifests itself on a mental level. The world is disappearing. You are left alone with your fear and a huge desire to dissolve and disappear, just not to feel it and get rid of it forever. You are scared. This is how irrational fear manifests itself again, but at the behavioral level. Fortunately, modern psychotherapy allows you to get rid of irrational fear and teaches you how to manage it at your own discretion. Scientists have developed effective methods for treating fears, special techniques, exercises and diet that can reduce the level of stress hormones (adrenaline and cortisol), which allows you to feel more calm and safe, normalize blood pressure, stimulate the release of endorphins into the blood, giving a feeling of happiness and well-being etc. Remember: fear is an emotion, a controlled emotion))) To be continued...
