Is it possible to see the future? Most people will say that this is impossible, and I agree with them. However, sometimes we see dreams that seem prophetic to us. This is due to the fact that dream events can be repeated in reality with fairly high accuracy. How to explain this? Call it a mere coincidence or attribute it to something supernatural, to the opportunity to reveal the secrets of the future? I want to give examples of dreams that came true and offer you my explanation of how this turned out to be possible. Let's analyze three situations: 🌙 A man dreams that a snake bit him in the neck. In the morning he wakes up with a sore throat. It is very simple to explain such a dream: the person already had an inflamed throat, but when he went to bed, he did not yet feel pain. While in a state of sleep, it is much easier for us to “hear” the body’s signals about some kind of bodily distress. In a dream, we are not distracted by external stimuli, so we can “predict” illness.🌙Once I dreamed that my father was sick. He lies on the bed, tries to get up, but cannot. I try to help him, I take him by the elbow and pull him towards me, but he still can’t get up. I woke up very alarmed and was glad that it was just a dream and dad was healthy. In the afternoon he had a heart attack. For a long time I could not get this coincidence out of my head. Many years later, when I became a psychologist and was able to analyze this dream, I realized that there was nothing supernatural in it. The day before, my father was doing repairs, was very tired and complained of feeling unwell. My father had a heart condition, and in the evening I began to worry that he might have overworked himself too much and how this might affect his health. My anxiety, which did not arise out of nowhere, transferred to the plot of the dream. My friend dreamed that she was getting into the back seat of a car with an unfamiliar man; he opens the bag and gives her an orange. The girl remembered this dream for a long time; she even began to assume that she had seen her future husband in a dream. Several years have passed. A similar situation happened to her in reality. A friend gets into a car with a man, he treats her to an orange. She immediately understands that she will marry him. At first glance, it seems that it is impossible to explain this dream as a mere coincidence. Well, this is pure mysticism! But let's still look at this dream from the point of view of psychoanalysis. A short background: the girl had a small problem - she could not get married. There was no end to suitors, but she did not fall in love with anyone. Therefore, she refused all offers. And then the incident that she had been dreaming about happened. Who would have thought that the “prince on a white horse” would be a man with an orange in his hands. How can such a coincidence be explained? I can assume that it was no coincidence that the dream that “predicted” her marriage was remembered so well by her. If you think about dream symbols, then: orange = wedding ring (it is round and similar in color to gold), man = girl’s father. We are dealing with an Oedipal dream in which the infantile desire to marry the father is fulfilled. It was for this reason that the dream evoked such strong emotions in her and was literally etched into her memory. When a similar situation occurred in reality, it provoked instant love. I think that any prophetic dream can be explained from the perspective of reality, but we do not always have enough data to do this.
