Yesterday I had the opportunity to visit a service station, or more precisely, where they do the computer geometry of a car - for some reason the steering wheel turned to one side. I saw the slogan in the title of this article, “Don’t tell me what to do and I won’t tell you where you need to go,” on a poster placed in the center of the workshop; it immediately caught my eye, and prices were posted underneath it. I didn’t remember everything exactly, but here’s what stuck in my memory: “Stand over your soul - 2000 tenge - 1 minute. Give advice - 2000 tenge - 1 minute... Do it yourself - 5000 tenge - 1 minute.” In order to find out the indicated amounts in rubles, you need to divide the tenge by 5. The amounts are quite significant considering how often and in what quantities people like to give advice, often in areas in which they know little. Probably, in this workshop they decided to fight this phenomenon, in such a radical way, so as not to waste time and emotional energy on explanations and exhortations to clients, “who are always right” and “know everything,” because people want to control the situation (read “stand over soul") there are much more people than people who can trust a specialist. Personally, this poster and especially the prices amused me, I immediately sat down on the chair kindly offered to me, thought about the depth of what I had read and regretted that my mobile phone was dead and I could not take a picture of what I saw. In essence, I minded my own business and left the master to do his job, which I understand very little about. After all, I even learned from my son that in order for my car to go straight I need to keep the steering wheel a little to the left. He asked me a question: “Mom, where will the car go if you turn the steering wheel straight? Right?" I turned the steering wheel and the car actually went to the right! May drivers from the right lane forgive me for this testing... How often, we do not notice important things and do a lot, but by and large we live by inertia. Every day I get behind the wheel and, in principle, I am satisfied with the way my car behaves - she and I have “learned to understand each other.” This is so common that it seems normal and correct. Imagine my surprise when I got behind the wheel after the master’s manipulations - the feeling is difficult to put into words, but somehow it became different - much better, more convenient, more powerful, more comfortable... I thought that when the equipment is brought into proper condition, in it reveals hidden and hitherto unknown resources. And you understand that you simply didn’t know HOW good you could feel until you decided to trust a specialist. And so it is in everything. The computer reacts faster after appropriate manipulations by an IT specialist. The sewing machine behaves better after preventive intervention by the master, etc. and so on. I would like to draw a parallel here with our well-being. We live as we ourselves know and can, and it seems that everything is in order, but how could it be otherwise? But if we decide to improve something in our life and health and trust a specialist, for example, a doctor, a yoga (fitness, swimming) trainer, a psychotherapist (consultant, coach), we can understand that it happens differently, that we can live “as “It’s different - it’s much better,” for example, to live without pain, constant anxiety and fears, and even with pleasure. It won’t hurt, after making such a decision, to remember with a smile the poster that I mentioned above - we can’t really believe that we are perfectly versed in all areas. Even if this is so, the most excellent dentist cannot fill his own tooth... It can be so great to trust a specialist, and the result obtained can pleasantly surprise us.
