We continue our review of misconceptions that hinder building a career. “Why should I do this. I have a senior employee or manager whose salary is much higher. Instead, I have to do the most difficult and necessary work.” Everything seems to be logical: the higher the salary of an employee in a team, the more he must do to “work off” it. Accordingly, the most experienced and highly paid employee must work longer and harder. As a rule, everything happens completely differently. Usually, the most ordinary employees do all the most tedious and difficult work. Waiters, farm workers, bank operations officers, cash collectors, ordinary accountants, workers and many, many others. Their senior colleagues already have some privileges and can often choose whether to do it themselves or delegate it to a more junior employee. If we talk about managers, they often do not do the current work at all, in the understanding of an ordinary employee. Why does this happen? The fact is that at each level the concept of “current work” is different. For example, the main task of a courier is to deliver correspondence. And the main task of its manager is to organize the delivery process, which includes planning, selection, training of employees, solving force majeure situations, reporting to management and, possibly, meeting some business indicators. Agree, this is a completely different level of responsibility and qualifications. This is why there is a difference in salary, and not because someone works longer or more. This is trivial and obvious, but such a misconception often prevents a person from building relationships with senior employees, which ultimately interferes with career growth. If everything If an employee becomes a manager without getting rid of such thinking, then all his subordinates begin to “ride” him, he constantly does not have enough time to perform his direct duties, which can lead to misunderstandings with his superior manager.
