Resentment shows you where your expectations diverged from reality. There is nothing that would keep a person offended if he does not hold on to it himself. Resentment grows from attention. The more you pay attention to the offense, the stronger it is. The energy of resentment is built on restraint, for example, when a partner is stronger than you or you are dependent on something (work, finances...) The offended person often shows his dissatisfaction with his entire appearance (dejected appearance, ignoring, silence, etc.), expecting his partner to change his behavior. Outwardly, it resembles infantile behavior, and, as it were, a silent desire for those around them to guess the needs of the offended person. Some psychological schools even classify offense as a passive form of aggression. The person doesn’t seem to attack or conflict, but he puts psychological pressure on. The simplest action is to honestly analyze the situation. An outside perspective can also be useful. Try to step back from the situation and look at it as an observer, as if from above. Admit to yourself that you are offended. This can be difficult. Some people consider resentment so unconstructive that they prefer to mask it or not notice it. This is not how to get rid of it. Suppressed feelings will still come out, only at the most inopportune moment and in the form of a stronger emotion in the form of affect. If necessary, contact a professional psychologist who will help you understand your feelings and help you find ways to overcome them. Practice: Letting go of a grudge can be a difficult process, but it is important for your emotional well-being: First, accept your feelings: allow yourself to feel the grudge and acknowledge it. Don't be shy about your emotions. Try to feel the resentment in your body, intensify it. It can be in the throat, less often in the chest. Imagine what it looks like, it is often described as a lump or stone. Describe it in detail. Now return it to the offender using the visualization method. Just close your eyes and imagine how you would return this lump or stone? By the way, there is no censorship in your imagination and no one will judge you. Do this as many times as necessary. Now how do you feel??
