In modern society, almost everywhere, life is structured in such a way that a person more actively uses the left (logical) hemisphere of the brain, which violates the equivalent the development of both hemispheres and shifts the balance towards “ration”. But many areas of human life need more active work of the right hemisphere: education, creating a family, raising children, love, romantic relationships, etc. Thus, using art therapy methods, a person harmonizes the work of the brain and creates conditions for a more harmonious interaction between the left and right hemispheres of the brain. As a result, adaptive and adaptive mechanisms are formed in his psyche, which allow him to more effectively integrate into the complex and constantly changing system of the modern world. Therefore, art therapy methods are often resorted to in cases of rehabilitation of people with developmental disabilities, both adults and children. In the process of such work, a person “talks” much more openly about his feelings and experiences about his problem, realizes his individuality and uniqueness, actively seeks and finds new ways to interact with the world, and as a result, becomes more flexible and socially adapted. And another important achievement: the experience of obtaining a result that was crowned with success: “I did it, I was able to, I managed it, and the fact that I did it, I like it. And not only for me." How joyful it is to see people who leave classes, carefully clutching their creation to their chest, with what pleasure they give away their work and rejoice in the successes of others! In addition, the skills used in the creative process are gradually transferred to everyday life and then it becomes clear that these lines by Akhmatova: “If only you knew from what rubbish poems grow without knowing shame, like a yellow dandelion on a fence, like burdocks and quinoa.”, they are not only about poetry, but also about life in its broadest sense. Taking the course , art therapy, participants in groups or individual classes can find a new hobby, hobby, or even profession, as well as new friends, because the circle of friends is expanding along with the range of new interests: competitions, exhibitions, clubs, studios, concerts, etc. Thus, the main goals of art therapy are: self-knowledge, self-expression, expansion of personal experience and adaptation. Creativity is the bridge that connects fantasy with reality, since it includes elements of both. And this synthesis is possible when spontaneous self-expression is both the goal and the means of the creative process, when a person communicates with the world using the “colors of his soul,” but it happens that this language is the only possible and accessible one to tell about oneself !Svetlana Leontyeva
