In this article we will continue to examine the topic of emotional intelligence and see how to develop such a useful ability as emotional intelligence. In our daily lives, emotional intelligence is one of the most important skills, because every day we are faced with many situations in which we need to recognize both our feelings and the feelings of the people around us. One of the ways that can help us become more aware is meditation. Surely you have heard about this practice. Attitudes towards it may vary, but it really is one of the most effective methods in developing awareness. Meditation helps us get rid of unnecessary fuss, slow down and simply feel, catch ourselves in the moment. This state gives us the opportunity to carefully observe our emotions, while noticing the changes that occur in the body. From simple breathing exercises to more advanced meditation practices, these can be a great step towards a deeper understanding of your state and emotions. Keeping an emotion journal is another great way to start tracking your emotional reactions on a daily basis. Get into the habit of taking a few minutes each day to write down how you felt throughout the day, what triggered those feelings, and how you responded to them. Keeping a diary will help you track certain patterns in your emotions and behavior and find effective ways to cope with negative emotions. And don’t forget about feedback from others. Often we do not notice some of our behavior patterns or emotional reactions in the same way that others see them. Ask your friends or loved ones to honestly share their opinions about you and your reactions to certain situations. I consider empathy one of the key aspects of emotional intelligence. In a general sense, empathy is the ability to feel and understand the emotions of other people. To master this skill, you need to learn to listen actively and try to be attentive to the words, facial expressions and pantomime of your interlocutor. Active listening is a key skill for developing empathy. In the process of active listening, we try not only to hear and understand the words of the interlocutor, but also to feel his emotional state. Ask clarifying questions, express your attitude to the subject of conversation and empathy. The development of emotional intelligence is an eternal, continuous process. This is constant work on yourself, which requires patience and willingness to change. In any case, no matter how difficult this path may seem, every step along the way helps us become closer to harmony with ourselves and with loved ones.
